Optimus Advisory Group, founded in 2008 by long-time financial advisors, is a money management firm specializing in actively managed strategies. Optimus works with financial advisors, RIA firms, and broker-dealers that offer our actively managed investment strategies to their clients.

The Optimus model portfolio strategies are managed using an adaptive, disciplined, rules-based approach. Each strategy is designed to meet individual client objectives, and the strategies may be combined to create diversified allocation portfolios.

Paul Hewitt
President and Chief Compliance Officer
Paul Hewitt is the Managing Member and Chief Compliance Officer of Optimus Advisory Group. He is responsible for the general management of the firm including operations, compliance, and trading.
Paul has more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. He was a financial advisor with two national broker dealers and founded Hewitt Investment Advisory. In 2008, after working with now business partner Steve Rumsey for many years, Paul merged his firm with Rumsey Asset Management to become Optimus Advisory Group.
Paul earned his BA in Economics from Pitzer College and his MBA from Claremont Graduate University.
Steve Rumsey
Chief Investment Officer
Steve Rumsey is the Chief Investment Officer of Optimus Advisory Group. He specializes in designing and managing the firm’s tactical and alternative investment strategies.
Steve was a computer programmer and analyst for a Fortune 500 company before entering the financial services industry more than 30 years ago. He was a financial advisor with two national broker-dealers and founded Rumsey Asset Management. In 2008, after working with now business partner Paul Hewitt for many years, Steve merged his firm with Hewitt Investment Advisory to become Optimus Advisory Group.
Steve earned his BS in Business and Management from the University of Redlands and his MBA from Pepperdine University.
